| Ypsilanti Man Dies in Grand Canyon Fall
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Federal authorities say a Michigan man drove his rental car to an overlook at Grand Canyon and plunged hundreds of feet off a cliff to his death. Park spokeswoman Maureen Oltrogge says he's 44-year-old Mihaly Szabo of Ypsilanti. She says rangers were trying to determine how Szabo ended up 300 feet below the south rim of the Grand Canyon near a picnic area, where snow and ice cover the ground. A helicopter crew recovered Szabo's body with a winch Saturday. Authorities first spotted his unattended car at the Buggeln picnic area Wednesday. .

Ways to relax and get away from the hustle of Acapulco
With its warm nights and white sand beaches, Acapulco is the heart of the Mexican Riviera. The city, which sits on the Pacific about 300 miles south of Mexico City, dates back to 3000 B.C., and rose to prominence as a trading center in the 1500s. In more recent times (especially since Frank Sinatra crooned about the city in the 1957 song, "Come Fly With Me"), tourism has taken over, with a slew of resorts ringing the city's semi-circular bay. Today, the city is perhaps best known for cliff-diving performances, during which acrobatic adventurers plunge from a rocky promontory into the Pacific. Susanna Palazuelos, an event planner who has thrown parties for Queen Elizabeth II, Henry Kissinger and the last five Mexican presidents, has other favorites. Palazuelos, who also serves as head of the Red Cross for the state of Guerrero, has spent most of her life in Acapulco.
Sympathy wanes for German rail strikers
Public sympathy for the union behind Germany's biggest rail strike seemed to be waning on Friday when millions of commuters struggled to get to work in freezing weather. The 62-hour walk-out by the GDL train drivers' union over pay has crippled goods transport and hit the steel and retail sectors, raising fears the strike could have a lasting impact on the economy if a solution is not found soon. More strikes are possible from Tuesday, the GDL said. Shipping containers piled up in Germany's largest port in Hamburg, authorities said. Only half the usual freight traffic was running in the northern city on the strike's third day. .
HD DVD Review: Seed of Chucky
As the PR release that accompanied this release states, Seed of Chucky on HD-DVD is presented in an unrated and fully extended version. Chucky, everyone's favorite killer doll returns-and he is bringing the whole family. This time around, Chucky and his homicidal honey, Tiffany, are brought back to life by their orphan offspring, Glen. They all go Hollywood, as Chucky unleashes his own brand of murderous mayhem. The film features Jennifer Tilly playing herself as well as the voice of Tiffany and hip-hop star Redman. What can I say about this film? The violence is over the top in a cartoonish sort of way and presented with more than a dash of humor(or attempts to). The level of violence therefore does not approach the level or gore or disgust seen in a film like Hostel Part II reviewed previously.
Second homes force 1m into rural poverty
The report called for a rethink to curb profits on the sale of such homes. Immigration High levels of immigration are bringing tension to rural areas, particularly those communities that have seen little change for many years, Dr Burgess said. The costs of migration fell on schools, which needed textbooks in more than one language, and councils, which needed translators. 'The speed and scale at which people have moved around between countries has caused challenges for rural areas,' he said. .
Man set fire to stepson's bed
A stepfather, unhappy about the attention his wife was paying to her intellectually disabled son, set fire to the youth's bedroom, causing $26,000 damage. In the Christchurch District Court yesterday, Graeme Noel Cook, 44, of Rangiora, was jailed for 18 months after earlier pleading guilty to two charges of arson. His wife, Sharon Thompson-Cook, told the court how difficult it had been coping with the aftermath of the fire just before Christmas. The family had to move into rental accommodation and she still did not know whether the insurance company would pay for the damage to the house. Her first husband, Malcolm Thompson, then read a victim impact statement for their son, Tim, 19, who has an intellectual age of nine or 10. All the boy's possessions were lost in the fire on December 19.

Selling sex to study
What we can definitely say is that as long as student debt increases so will the numbers of students entering the industry. Since the introduction of tuition fee’s in 1998 there has been an increase in students undertaking this kind of work." It’s a situation which is becoming reality for some of the poorest students. Last month France’s education minister promised to increase financial support after the diary of a first-year student and a book of interviews with undergrads detailed their personal experiences of prostitution. Dr Roberts said the French government is taking a much more proactive step towards tackling the problem compared with the British NUS: "Improving financial support [is] obviously a better way as it recognises it’s something to do with students having no money.
