Car rental parking at Rohlsen Airport to be moved to make room for ...

STINE LETT
Thursday, December 20th 2007

ST. CROIX - By spring 2008, the general public patronizing Rohlsen Airport will be able to park a little closer to its terminal.

V.I. Port Authority board member Gordon Finch, who chairs the board's Projects Committee, said that three car rental agencies - Budget, Hertz and Avis - with concessions and parking spaces at the Rohlsen Airport, will park their vehicles off-site, freeing up about 30 parking spaces near the terminal for use by the general public.

The authority had received a number of complaints about the walking distance from the public parking area, which sits behind the rental cars on the south end, to the airport terminal, he said.

"That's about to change, and that's the bottom line," Finch said.

Strike halts Alitalia flights from Heathrow

The work stoppage at the airline was expected to last four hours between 11am and 3pm UK Time, although trains, buses and ferries across Italy will halt for eight hours in a strike against cuts in public services. Staff at car rental firms also stopped work.

Alitalia advised passengers to check the flight status page on its website.

Transport union leaders described the action as the biggest in the sector for 25 years. However, Alitalia has been hit by stoppages during a protracted process of privatisation that has already taken more than a year.

British Airways and private equity partner TPG are reported to be showing a belated interest in taking over the debt-ridden Italian flag carrier. However, the smart money remains on Air France-KLM if it can extract the conditions it seeks from Italy's government.

Sentencing was set for May 30. She closed her eyes, bowed her head and cried as the verdict was announced."Obviously we are thrilled with the verdict," Bartlett said.

Clinton is 'honored' - so is she history, too?

People, focus on this for a moment. 1. Democrats in this country seem to be hitching their wagons in droves behind a candidate (Obama) who is little more than a junior senator with absolutely no experience in foriegn affairs or policy. Hence all the talk of hope and change ! In reality, what hope and change ? Ask yourself……… What's wrong with this picture ?

2. Just about everything that comes out of Hillary Clinton's mouth is complete B.S. for instance, the Clintons have probably received more campaign contributions from special interest groups and been involved in more scandals during "their" tenure than just about any president I can think of in the recent past. Ask yourself people, do you really think that will make the special interest groups go away as she claims she will do in this article ? Wake up America !!!!

Manager will face bosses for his review

Unfortunately, Corpus Christi does have a very LOUD vocal few who always yell THROW THE BUMS OUT no matter who is being discussed. Please think a little before you make such a serious statement. Re-read Post #7's comments, we could wind up a heck of a lot worse off if we go off half cocked and do something stupid. Personally, I hope Skip Noe is with us for a very long time.

Spyware Costs Businesses More Than $8,000 a Year

Safe-computing education and training needs to come "not from the IT staff but from the C-level executives down to the administrators, employees, anyone who's on the network communicating via a PC or wireless or PDA," Ostrowski said.

The CompTIA report, "Making the Case for Managed Services: The Business Impact of IT Problems at SMBs," comprised two studies. The first was with 200 IT professionals, the second with 537 SMB end users with no IT responsibilities. Interviewees came from a range of industries, including health care, financial services, and professional services in the U.S. and Canada.

Advertising romance: Gone in 30 seconds - Pt. 5 - Uhhh…

Elevators suck because they're like 30-second real life commercials, without a product and without a script. Unfortunately, more and more often I have these encounters outside of elevators, and they're starting to make all of life feel like it sucks for the same reason. Maybe you know what I mean.

Leaving Village Video that day reminded me of a Coca-Cola commercial I once saw in which a young man holds a bottle of Coke and walks around a city smiling at strangers who smile back. The whole time, Louis Armstrong's version of "When You're Smiling" plays and you can't help but tap your toe, or at least your index finger. At the end, the young man hands a Coke to a coy-looking, curly haired girl sitting in a café. She was the first person he smiled at, and the only one to not immediately respond with two rows of bright whites shining between frighteningly stretched out cheeks.

SNP 'not fit to govern'

Here he seems to have missed a rather basic point. The SNP are proposing a tax cut. They have made that point clear, describing it as the largest tax cut in a generation.Mr. Midwinter says that moving from the council tax to the local income tax will raise £831 million less in tax than at present. That is half true. £450 million less will be raised. Put another way (and one I suspect that will ring more true to taxpayers) that means £450 million will be returned to Scottish taxpayers. That is a central feature of the SNP plans. This leaves £381 million in dispute. This £381 million is the amount of the current council tax rebate. Mr. Midwinter assumes that this money would be lost to Scotland in the maw of the Treasury. What we know from the Burt Review is that arrangements are flexible enough to deal with their proposed alternative to Council Tax.

GM: Possible pitfalls could derail rebound

But this year, GM also must begin anteing up cash to set up a massive health care trust for hourly retirees. The automaker has to come up with $34 billion over several years to contribute to the fund, created as part of last year's labor pact with the United Auto Workers. GM's ability to spend in other areas of the business will be affected if it can't secure financing under favorable terms.

Ikon scores A+ after helping Labor win

FEDERAL Labor's media agency of choice, Ikon Communications, has emerged at the top of a confidential list ranking media buying companies for its ability to win new business.

The company, 90 per cent of which was bought by STW for an estimated $25 million in 2006, scored an A+ on the annual ranking, compiled by Paris-based research firm RECMA.

While Ikon - which was ranked a B+ last year - beat five rivals for the top spot during 2007, OMD was ranked the top agency during the past four years.

Last year Ikon won the $27million buying account for Coca-Cola and Sony BMG's $16million media business, as well as accounts for Thrifty rental cars, SunRice, McGuigan Wines and Sportscraft. The agency lost the Bulleit and Avon accounts, representing about $10million.
